Dottie Theriot Ratliff (pronounced “Dot-tee”) has lived on Bayou Petit Caillou all her life. Her house is along the bayou in Chauvin, LA where she still gets excited as shrimp boats pass at night with music playing and the lights on.
She began painting in her fifties. It became therapeutic for her after teaching preschool in bayou schools for 33 years. She spent her childhood running in the woods, fishing on the bayou side and enjoying the outdoors. Her heart is in everything she paints. She never knows what she is going to paint. Dot-tee has never taken art lessons, except a bit of ceramics in college.
